THE BELL TRADE OF IRELAND. John Murphy has great pleasure ^ in announcing to the Public that, as an additional proof of his success in Bell-Founding, he has shipped another Peal o f Eight Bells, on Tuesday, for Douglas, Isle o f Man, weighing nearly Three Tons. They are the first ever rang in the Isle of Man. They were ordered py a gentleman residing in Douglas, for the use of St. Thomas s Church. Though au English gentleman, and strong inducements held out to him to have his Bells cast in England, yet,to his credit, as he said he heard nothinginthe Bell way at the World’s Exhibition, in London, to equal my Bells, he did what he considered common justice, and has taken my Bells, which, I trust, will be no discredit to Ireland or to the gentleman o f that musical talent and truly genuine liberal spirit. The Peal o f Three-and-a-half Tons, shipped for Melbourne by me, for the Right Rev. Dr. Goold, by the Lorena, which sailed from Dublin about a month ago, was likewise the result o f the World’s Exhibition. A sample o f the Bells I exhibited is at the Great Northern Railway Terminus, King’scross, London, weighing twenty-nine cwt., and the octave o f it at Atherstone Convent, Warwickshire. I am preparing a peal now for Sunderland. This proof o f the superiorty o f the amalgam I use I expect will be sufficient to convince Irishmen and Englishmen, as well as Foreigners, that when I am supplying Bells to London and Birmingham, the very seat o f metallurgic industry, even at high prices, that they cannot be mistaken where to deal for their Bells. Mrs. Ball has purchased the large Bell, o f twenty-sevenewt., that I exhibited at Cork, for Loughcooter Convent, Gort. I have now supplied o f Archbishops and Bishops eleven, and some hundreds of dignitaries o f both Churches.

The following is Prince Albert’s certificate “ I hereby certify that her Majesty’s Commissioners, upon the award o f the Jurors, have presented the Prize Medal to John Murphy, for Bells shown at the Exhibition.

C a th o l ic B ag 'g ed S c h o o l s . (¡¡J.rand Fancy Bazaar, Promenade, U &c., to be held at the ROTUNDO, on EASTER MONDAY and TUESDAY Next, the 28th and 29th o f MARCH, 1853.

The Committee o f the Catholic Ragged Schools beg to announce that in order to procure the means, o f extending their sphere o f usefulness, they purpose holding a Grand Fancy Bazaar, &c., at the Rotundo on the above-named days.

The objects sought to be accomplished by the establishing o f these schools (which are under the patronage o f his Grace the Arch- bishop) are, to rescue the children o f the really destitute poor o f Dublin from the ignorance, vice, and irreligion, to which their forlorn condion exposes them—to afford them an education suited to their position—to train them up in habits o f industry and morality —and, in order that no excuse may be left them for remaining uninstructed, to give them food during school hours, and clothing to those most in need or most deserving o f it.

The proceeds o f the Bazaar being for the furthefcknee o f the above objects, the Committee respectfully appeal to the proverbial charity o f the Ladies o f Dublin, who, by the preparation o f the many Fancy Articles suited for the Bazaar, and the exertion o f the vast influence they possess in its favour, will render an invaluable service to the cause o f the needy and destitute o f this City.

Contributions o f Fancy Work, &c., will be gratefully received by Mrs. M‘Dermott, 3, Mountjoy-square West; Mrs. R. Kelly, 56, Lower Sackville-street; Very Reverend Doctor Yore, 69, Queen-street; Very Reverend Doctor O’Brien, Presbytery, Clarendon-street; the Honorary Secretaries and Members o f the Committee; and by the Treasurer to the Bazaar Committee, 17, Queen-street.
